can you have an Associate Degree in accounting if so what is it called?
Yes, it is called an Associate of Science in Accounting. You don’t even need your AS in some cases. There are Accounting Certificates out there that are about 1/2 the time. Here is the description of an Associate and of the Certificate:
Associate of Science, Tech Prep Option (340)

This program is designed to develop entry-level accounting skills for immediate employment after graduation.
Students enrolled in this program may earn cooperative education credits. For more information, contact the Accounting faculty.

The best thing to do is to check with your local schools to see what is offered and if it fits with your goals. Many of the associate degrees with transfer to the 4-year universities if you want to go on and earn your BS in accounting.
Good luck!
